3 movements:

Alex. Villinger: Trio #3, op. 27

1st: Bossa'n'Blues

Annotation on the 1st movement: formally and harmonically, the movement oscillates constantly between typical blues and typical bossa nova structure, with different tempi in each case.

2nd: Jazz ballad: Adagio espressivo e molto cantabile

Annotation on the 2nd movement: a ballad in 5/4 time with the harmony structure typical of jazz. The melodic material is imitated throughout. In the middle section - alluding to the 1st movement - the slightly varied blues scheme appears, e.g. also in 5/4 time.

3rd: Allegro ritmico

Annotation on the 3rd movement: a harmonically rich finale in which the flute plays a prominent and virtuoso role.
